Champions
The Champion is the staff liaison of a partner school who is responsible for running the UWYV program at the school.
Champions are an integral and important part of the UWYV program, as they promote the UWYV opportunity and its integration as part of the school culture, providing leadership to seed and root a school culture of young people leading positive community change.
Some of the important things that a Champion does are to:
- Encourage faculty, staff, and community awareness, involvement and support of the UWYV program including educating the broader community about the positive impact of youth as United Way Youth Venturers.
- Share the UWYV opportunity with ALL students within the school and actively work to engage as many students as possible in either leading or participating in United Way Youth Venture.
- Support the production of new UWYV teams.
- Facilitate and/or coordinate regular meetings of UWYV teams to increase fellowship and networking opportunities throughout the year.
